SUMMERTIME WORKSHOP FUN
UNLEASH YOUR LOVE FOR COLOR & TEXTURE
at Wing & A Prayer Farm
with Nichole Vogelsinger
Embroidery and textile art meet with Nichole Vogelsinger’s colorful, bold Boho Embroidery style. The colors and textures that Nichole packs into her stunning textile art creations will inspire you to expand your creativity. The small size of these projects takes the intimidation out of experimenting with patterns and stitch combinations.
Nichole teaches you how to create in various stitch styles & sets you free to wander down your own creative path using her patterns and projects for guidance.
You’ll be inspired to find your muse through thrift store finds such as retro tablecloths and feed sacks, and in more typical places like on novelty fabric and in nature. The world becomes a celebration that you can capture with just bits of fabric, and without being confined to four walls. Grab a hoop, break out all of your favorite fabrics and threads, and explore your “boho“ side!
Class is here in Shaftsbury, Vermont on August 5, 2017 from 10-4:00 with Farm-to-Table lunch included.

Boho Collage Embroidery Workshop Description:
For beginning embroiderers, experienced embroiderers and everyone who falls in between, Boho Collage Embroidery will visually inspire you to play with color, fabric and texture as you create a fabric collage in this workshop. Learn to adjust your lens to discover new shapes and patterns with the eye of a collage artist and the precision of an embroiderer. Your imagination is the only limit to what you can create with a few key skills! Enjoy this fresh take on embroidery that will have you bending the rules so that you can create a work of art that is all your own!
Workshop Supplies Needed:
Wood Embroidery Hoop (8”)
Variety of fabrics (they do not need to be large cuts, fat quarters work perfectly!)
Embroidery Needles (I prefer to use Milliner’s Needles, but this is your personal choice!)
Heat n Bond Lite (1⁄4 yard)
Fiskars Micro Tip Spring Action Scissors (I highly recommend these for fussy cutting!)
Boho Embroidery Book by Nichole Vogelsinger (optional, but I hear this is an amazing embroidery book!)
Variety of threads (Eleganza Perle Cotton by Sue Spargo is my recommendation but any embroidery thread that you prefer can be used)
About Nichole Vogelsinger:
Nichole has a beautiful new book out with Lucky Spool, Wild Boho: Modern Projects from Traditional Stitches. She’s also partnered with an assortment of sewing brands including fabric and notions companies.
A self-taught embroidery artist, she spends time pairing color, pattern and fabric combinations to create modern hoop art. While growing up, her seamstress mother tried (unsuccessfully) to teach her how to sew. She then began experimenting with non-sewing related fiber arts, and her appreciation for them grew as she stashed embroidery floss to make friendship bracelets, dabbled in weaving and rug hooking and learned how to knit. It wasn’t until years later that something clicked and she discovered how captivating the world of fabric could be (and finally, with help once again from her mom, learned how to wrangle a sewing machine!) In recent years, she has discovered her love for creating contemporary hoop art embellished with freestyle embroidery.
Hope to see you this summer!
