We’re so excited to share the best of local makers and growers with you here at Wing & A Prayer Farm from 11 – 4 on Sunday, October 12.
Once a year we open the farm up to visitors in this way so that locals and travelers can see what our working farm is like. We spruce up, just for you, and try to have something for everyone.
This year we have a lovely Maker Market with producers/Makers representing everything from earthworks, fiber arts, jewelry and produce, Chestnuts, local meats and cider. We love that we can support small businesses in this way each autumn, helping to boost the local economy with your purchases, promoting local community and artists and farmers.
We will have our homemade pies for sale, too, and cider donuts for noshing. And, a craft cocktail/craft cider garden for refreshment.
There’ll be wooly sheep and other farm animals to get to know, a natural dye demo, a variety of demonstrations, and a knitting/crafting circle to gather and enjoy time with friends old and new.
You can count on interactive activities to try your hand at farming.
As always, there will be a free ticket with your $5 admission to enter into one of our many raffles at the entrance table. The raffles are always SO good, we get some great donations. From farm baskets to Airbnb getaways, and everything in between, we hope you’ll make sure to spend some time signing up. Additional chances will be available to purchase also. We’ll draw the winners, you must be in attendance to receive your prize, at 3:30 p.m..
There are outdoor bathroom facilities and wash up stations, and free parking in our fields. (Fingers crossed for dry-ish weather this week!)
Make sure to bring along cash or credit to purchase from our Makers and Producers so that you can load your larders and shop ahead of the holidays! It’s the best time to stock up and you won’t be sorry to have a cooler to load up with local meats and veggies.
Shop our Wool Shop and Apothecary where you’ll find all of our flocks’ wool, some new kits(announced soon!), farm made soaps, project bags, wool fertiliser pellets and more, on Sunday.
Kids get to decorate a pumpkin! Special guests in our Makers Market share their farm’s seasonal products - you’ll get a chance to meet new farmers and artists and also visit with you old favourites.
Parking is in the field on the way down the driveway. Please make sure to wear appropriate footwear. Dress according to the weather for comfort.
We reserve the right to cancel and will post on our website by 9a.m. on October 12 if we need to do so. Weather and Animal Care are strong dictators as to what can be reasonably accommodated!
