Summer Blues: Indigo Dyeing Workshop with Green Mt. Spinnery

On August 9 + 10, we’ll spend two days singing the summer blues with Kate and Maureen of Green Mt. Spinnery here at Wing & A Prayer Farm.

From 10 - 4:00, Tammy White will teach shibori techniques and vat building for the first part of the day. You will work at a table for the first part of the day to design/bind/tie off the designs we make using textiles. We’ll dye our work along with beautiful skeins of yarn from Green Mt. Spinnery in the afternoon and then let them dry overnight. Tammy will tour you in the dye garden and you’ll pick and dye with fresh indigo in a variety of methods to experience indigo pigment in a range of incredible shades of blues.

Bring a smock/apron and gloves to keep your clothing and hands clean.

On Sunday, bring your needles at 9 a.m. to wind our indigo-dyed yarn into beautiful cakes of blues. Maureen Clark and Kate Salomon will assist while we cast-on for our own adventure for a Summer Blues KAL of one of three accessory patterns from Green Mountain Spinnery.  You'll receive PDF copies of all three patterns, when you sign up! In celebration and conclusion, we’ll enjoy a relaxing Farm Lunch altogether from 1 - 2:00 p.m..
