Indigo + Marigold Shibori Workshop September 13
Indigo + Marigold Shibori Workshop September 13
On Sunday, September 13 from 9 - 1 here at Wing & A Prayer Farm, we will work with Fresh and Fermented Indigo Vats as well as Marigolds to make beautiful blues and golds on wool, silk and cotton. We will use binding and folding and stitching techniques to create resists on the fiber before submerging it. You’ll have a chance to pick fresh indigo from the Dye Garden, as well as learn about all of the other dye plants that are grown at the farm, and dye your materials in beautiful contrasting colors before you leave.
The lessons in this class cross curriculums in that you’re experiencing the intricacies of indigo dyeing as well as other natural dye methods.
Each participant goes home with Wing & A Prayer Farm Wool Yarn, Silk and Cotton Kerchiefs. There are snacks and drinks provided. Make sure to wear an apron or smock and bring gloves to keep your hands protected. The work is mostly outside, though the Wing & A Prayer Farm Shop and Apothecary will be set up with tables and chairs for seat work. If the weather is inclement, we will have a tent set up to stay dry.
Class size is limited to 10 people.
