Wing & A Prayer Farm’s flock of Shetland sheep are sturdy, sprightly and soft as a cloud. They have been the beginning of the journey of this fiber farm, they will likely be the end of the journey. They are just the perfect sheep.

We have to save up their fleeces over a couple of years for when we want to have their yarn made as they are smaller and have lighter fleeces at shearing time. It is worth the wait!

Our Fingering weight yarn came back from the mill in different colors - a light oatmeal, a deep cocoa, and a medium heathery grey. We save the yarn in it’s undyed state to have for folks to knit or crochet or weave with, but we also overdye the yarns as well.

Here is a batch that we overdyed with Cochineal, Marigold, and Madder Roots in the backyard.

The 50 gram skeins with 190 yards comes in Light Coral, Pink and Light Marigold.
