Fair Winds Shawl Kit by Romi Hill

Fair Winds Shawl Kit by Romi Hill
The fair winds shawl is designed to wrap you up in love and comfort from the first stitch all the way through to the wearing of your finished piece. The construction enhances the different personalities of the beautiful rustic wool, with a solid textured top triangle and a panel of smooth lacy leaves. It’s a satisfyingly simple pattern, and a great introduction to lace. There are only two charts(with written instructions also included.) The garter edging is finished up with an Icelandic bind-off that leaves a sturdy edge. It’s perfect for every day, or for special occasions. Our farm will donate $10 to Knit the Rainbow for each kit sold.
Knit the Rainbow (KtR) was founded in 2020 to help homeless LGBTQ+ youth in New York City survive the brutal winters. All of our handmade garments are made with love by our volunteers across the country and placed right in the hands of those in need.
Yarn included in this kit comes from the Wing & A Prayer Farm flock here in Shaftsbury, Vermont. You will receive enough to make a shawl with a bit leftover, skeins are ample. We have included an array of color combinations as well as yarn combinations to suit your inclinations.
The Valais-Shetland DK yarn has good drape, strength and halo but with a soft hand.
The Spice Girls Sportweight Alpaca + Wool blend is soft and very drapey, will be conducive to a wrap.
Our Rambouillet Fingering weight is wooden-spun and will make a wrap with more stitch definition and texture, in addition to adding a fine and sumptuous hand.
